A former chief of the political advisory body in Northwest China’s Shaanxi province has been expelled from the Communist Party of China on suspicion of bribery and association with “political swindlers,” the country’s top graft buster said.

Han Yong, ex-chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was found to have engaged in cronyism, illegally accepted gifts, meddled with law enforcement, and violated the party’s frugality code, among other instances of misconduct, the Central Committee for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement Monday.
